Upcycled shampoo bottle garland

Upcycling is my jam. I am invigorated by the challenge of making something new and different out of an item previously regarded as trash. Kinda a hero complex, I know. But really, how cool is it to resurrect a bit of trash?
Today I chose to create some decor from an empty shampoo bottle.
This project is quite simple if you have the right tools.
You will need:
A utility knife
A long bladed pair of scissors
An empty plastic bottle
A hot glue gun with hot glue sticks

The first step is to peel the label off
Now we'll have to cut the bottom and top of the bottle off. My bottle was notably thick and rigid, so I began the cut with my utility knife (being very careful not to cut my fingers or anything) and then I used my scissors the rest of the way.

The next task is to cut the bottle along it's height. I used my scissors for this step. It is vital to make this cut as straight as possible.
Yes?
Alright, now we shall make the the rings. Cut the cylinder width wise. It is difficult to keep the cut straight and avoid shards of plastic, but is essential. It gets easier and easier as you go. I found it best to cut all from one side, instead of going halfway up one side and halfway up the other.
You see where this is going now, right?
Break out that good and faithful hot glue gun and glue all the links together.
To hang it up in my bathroom I attached 2 loops of thread and then push pinned it to the wall behind the canvas art.

I am quite satisfied with the result, and I think it'd be splendid to add on to it as I exhaust more bottles of shower products.
I like the way the brown plastic almost looks like glass.
How cool would it be to use clear plastic and stain it?
Oooh, the opportunities are endless!
