NYC day #7

What a way to spend the day in New York! We continued to check things of our to-do list and we did a little bit of everything.
Our first stop was Union Square.

We enjoyed the first equestrian sculpture cast in bronze in the United States.

We all chilled out on a bench and people watched. We also saw the NYPD arrest a dude.

Also, I found these flowers to be really pretty.

This lady walked by and fed the birds as she went, creating a total uprising within the population.

The squirrels were alarmingly friendly. This photo was taken with no zoom. I could have reached out and touched it.

We then stumbled upon a farmers market and these older folks buying their produce were pretty cute.

On our way to the Flat Iron building mom and I had to pop into this cute little cosmetics shop called "Fresh" that featured the most beautifully painted doors and a quirky little sink.

Flat Iron building!

After we admired the building we made our to Madison Square and I met this amazing artist who gave us a stellar lunch recommendation.

Our next stop was High Line Park, which is a mile and a half long section of abandoned elevated rail track that has been turned into a public park. It is quite the unique location.

This fountain was also quite unconventional.

Dad executed the proper use of the fountain flawlessly.

The views were impeccable.

I enjoyed this hummus sampler at the "Half King" Bar and grill on the recommendation of the artist from Madison Square park, and I was not disappointed.

After a brief rest at our hotel we hopped on a subway to explore Little Italy, Chinatown, and the SoHo district. The murals made me fell like I was back in Austin! I loved these areas because of all the diverse sights, textures, smells, and sounds. While we were in little Italy we had cannolis and oh my word, they were so good!

As darkness settled we met up with our friends again (the ones from ATX) to take a ferry ride to Staten Island to see the skyline at night, but, boy, were we in for a treat! Right as we were pulling into the harbor some fireworks shot up in celebration of the local baseball game. Max and I had a fun time trying to get some photos of the skyline. At one point during the ferry ride I slowed my shutter speed way down to see what kid of light trace effects I could capture.

What a wonderful way to end the trip of a lifetime!
