Red Berry sour bites

It's no secret, I am obsessed with Sour Patch candy. I love the Berries, the Kids, and the Watermelons, and now the gum made by Stride. I cannot wait to try 7-11's new Sour Patch Watermelon Slurpee. I still have a blog post drafted from April in which I profess my love for the candy and my deep rooted desire to make a dessert that tastes like my beloved candy. Today I discovered the perfect recipe on accident. I saw this recipe pop up in my Pinterest feed and I knew I had to try it. I modified the ingredients a bit due to the limited availability of what was in my house, and I accidentally made a food that tastes just like the red Sour Patch kids. These little bites start out sour thanks to the Jello but their sweetness shines through the berry cream cheese. Also, these are a cinch to throw together!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • Handful of granulated pure sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of powdered raspberry Jello (You can buy the small box and you'll still have half left)
  • 8 ounces (one container) whipped Philadelphia berry cream cheese
1. Mix powdered sugar with cream cheese until fully incorporated.
2. Mix in powdered Jello to cream cheese mixture.
3. Cover a cookie sheet (or whatever you want them to be stored in/on) with wax paper and then cover with sugar (I didn't do this but I wish I had, these little guys are hard to transfer with a "naked", sticky bottom)
4. Spoon mixture into a large zip-top bag, snip the corner, and squeeze mix onto the sheet creating inch wide circles.
5. Sprinkle with sugar
6. Store in the freezer or fridge, it's up to you!

These won't disappoint!

  1. If you would mix a coupe of more colours in these, they would make perfect unicorn poop :p
