Have you ever played badminton? It's such a fun sport. Yesterday I was home right after school because the musical has started and all the sets were painted, so my family went and played badminton. The shuttlecock kind of floats, it's like slapping around a butterfly, which is a cool phenomenon.
Next exciting thing, DNA and genetics! I understand what we are learning in my Pre-AP biology class , and it is quite mesmerizing. I wanted to make something DNA oriented, so did a little searching a found this this tutorial, and I made one!
When you really think about DNA, it sort of boggles your mind. I mean, the way a teeny tiny ultra-microscopic strand of repetitive bases can make the instructions for your body to function. That's crazy! As if its mere existence isn't enough, is replicates itself! This animation displays the awesomeness really well. I'm slightly obsessed. Don't even get me started on mRNA and protein synthesis.
On another sciencey note; Nudibranches. These things are the most beautiful sea slugs ever. Look at them! They are so vibrant and unique and the move so magically. Some are even bio-luminescent! I think these are a mermaids version of a unicorn :) I will be making a plushy soon.
I don't know about y'all, but when I look at things like DNA structure/ replication and nudibranches, I can't help it but too see the work of a creator. I just can't bring myself to believe that vibrant sea slugs are a result of a genetic mutation or an evolutionary success or a big bang. GOD is a creative creator. I bet GOD had a little party when humans discovered this beauty under the sea.
Update: I attended the musical tonight ('Singing in the Rain') and it was fantastic! everything exceeded my expectations and I was proud to play a part in it's success, no matter how small. It was tech recognition night, so all the theater techs went onstage and introduced themselves. It was awesome. The below photo was taken during the opening scene. My team and I painted the Graumans sign, the marquee, the dragon, and the pair of wood doors. Yay us!
Thanks for reading. Happy weekend!
