Birthday mission accomplished.
Tutorial-
You shall need-
A twin flat sheet (I found mine at Target)
5 pillows
Sewing machine
Thread
Pins
Chalk/Pencil
Fold the sheet longways, wrong sides together, (so you get a "hot dog" shape) but don't allow the ends to meet. Instead, allow one layer to be 4 inches below the other.
Pin all 3 open ends. Sew the 2 short ends together with a tight, short, secure stitch.
I am fortunate and I own a quilting machine, so I used a decorative quilting stitch.
Once both your ends are secured measure the distance between the stitches and divide by 5. For me, each slot was to be 18.5 inches. Measure each slot, mark a line, and sew up to where the top section ends and you transition to a single layer.
Easy peasy! Now stuff your pillows in. We shall create a duvet closure by folding the remaining 4 inches up to the joint and sew a little stitch to tack it down. Do this in the same location as your long stitches. (I meant to get a photo of this, but I didn't. Hope this makes sense.)
This little dojobber is very versatile and can be manipulated into many positions. You could roll it all up and flop on it, fold one pillow over the other and catch a quick nap, fold the top and the bottom over to make a little nest, and what have you.
Pretty sure he likes it. Success!
