NYC day #1

New York City! The Big Apple! The City that Never Sleeps! The Cultural center of the United States!

My family arrived this evening and we've already packed so many new things into a mere few hours.
Let me start at the beginning, though, because this trip has been good from the start.

We flew out of Austin Bergstrom International with new luggage in tow.

The sky was mostly clear for the bulk of our flight and so I obviously took dozens of photos out the window, but I'll only share my favorite right now.

In between taking photos I did some coloring in my new tessellation coloring book which was sweetly gifted to me by dear friends.

We arrived in Newark, New Jersey, and took a shuttle into the city. The drive was one to remember, for sure. Once we arrived and settled into our hotel we meandered the streets nearest us for a bit. Everything is so tall, and I could walk around just staring upwards all day.

My dad decided to be a rebel and stood in the plainly marked "No standing" zone. What are we ever going to do with him?

While on our stroll we stumbled upon the Waldorf-Astoria, and naturally we had to go inside and have our minds blown by the opulence of the place.

We also happened upon St. Patrick's cathedral. Their stained glass and organ are stunning.

For dinner we ventured over to the Rockefeller center and ate at their seasonal cafe. We started off with guacamole (which I happily finished).

We then ordered a scrumptious New York style cheesecake...

...which we happily demolished.

I am low-key in love with this city, and we've only been here a few hours. The diversity is intriguing, everywhere you look there is something to take in. Such a variety of sights, smells, and sounds to absorb all at once. I am anticipating another wonderful day tomorrow!
