NYC day #2

Day 2 has been extraordinary! New York is so diverse and has such a concentrated variety of cultural offerings. Today we explored the complex subway system, met up with friends in the American Natural History Museum, meandered through Central Park, and bustled our way through Times Square.

Our first task of the morning was to master the monstrosity that is the New York City subway system. Dad was our guide and he intently studied an array of maps trying to make heads or tails of the maze.

Each subway station is a bit different, some sporting magnificent tile mosaics, others with colorful window displays.

We then arrived at the American Natural History Museum where we saw humongous dinosaur skeletons and I got to meet a Moai. I am kind of obsessed with Moai (you know, the figures made by the Rapi Nui folks on Easter Island), so this was a big moment for me. Also, I got a fun selfie with a happy little tribal painting.

As we made our way through the famed Central Park we found a surprising amount of wildlife, or, rather, the wildlife found us.

These little raspberries were growing around a small waterfall, and, although against better judgement, I ate one and it was sweet and sour all at once, like a sour patch kid.

The lake was full of cute couples and families rowing away on their boats. Can you say movie scene?

It was so fun to see the skyline as a backdrop to a beautiful lake.

We then happened upon a man blowing large bubbles with a net like object and I couldn't help but to take a multitude of pictures. Bubbles are simply magical. They float in whatever way they please, the refract light,  and are sort of iridescent. I could have stayed there all afternoon.

On our way out of the park we moseyed along through the great lawn which was being enjoyed in many ways. Jovial conversations could be heard as well as giggling children.

Around dinnertime we rested at the Brooklyn Diner and I enjoyed a refreshing Vegan Hummus Plate.

As we strolled towards Times Square the sun was setting.

We made a quick stop into the MnM store, which was pure chocolate filled madness.

We then briefly explored the hustle and bustle of Times Square, and saw the famous Swarovski ball that gets all the attention of New Years Eve.

On our ways back to our hotel we popped in the Bull&Bear restaurant to share yet another piece of New York Cheesecake, which was greatly enjoyed by all.

What a great way to spend the day in such an influential city! I can't wait to see what tomorrow holds!
Hint: It's going to be diplomatic :)
