Duck on the swing painting

This whole saga started with a simple email to my favorite blogger, Marielle, with a simple subject of "Duck on the swing painting".

You see, she is an amazing artist and I fell in love with her painting of a fluffy little duck on a little tiny swing. I emailed her to enquire about buying a print or potentially the canvas, and I was able to purchase her last Duck art print.

When it came in the mail I was downright giddy. It came wrapped in the cutest polka dot wrapping paper with fun international postage. A few extra little surprises laid within the paper, and the beautiful and high quality print was nestled between 2 sheets of cardboard. Imagine this package arriving at your doorstep as a gift!

My next step was to frame the piece. The oval shape was slightly irregular and thus I chose to order a custom light yellow/cream mat to match the chest feathers of the duck. I purchased this large, chunky, decorative frame on clearance, which was a total score. The assemblage looks simply marvelous together. Initially I planned to use a thinner black or deep brown frame but that would've been plain and boring.

I framed and hung it all by myself because I'm an independent woman who doesn't need any stinking man. I placed it over my bed, near my collage of framed sea otter art. It is differentiated by it's light blue frame, and purple background, and I think it's just what that space needed.

It is just darling and makes me smile every time I walk in my room.
Below is a time lapse video Marielle made which shows her process in painting it. Seeing the effort put into my little duck makes me appreciate it even more.

I am so pleased with my purchase, and all my transactions and correspondence with Marielle were prompt and positive. If you are in the market for some art to adorn your living spaces, check out her Etsy store! A personal favorite of mine is the "Birds of a Feather" canvas.

What is your favorite piece of art in your home? Which of it's qualities make it your favorite?
